On May 4, the 6th National Education Workshop in Italian—the construction of Italian Discipline and Reform and Innovation Seminar was held in NKU. This conference was sponsored by the CFL of the NKU and co-organized by China Association of Italian Teaching, the Cultural Center of Italian Embassy in China and Center fort Italian Studies in the Beijing Foreign Languages Studies. More than 30 deans of the Department of Italian (Teaching and Research Section) or the teaching staff attended to the conference to make proposals for the construction and development of Italian discipline in high institutions.
Zhu Guanglei, vice president of the NKU, Meng Feixuan, the Cultural Center of Italian Embassy in China and cultural counsellor and Ren Wenzheng, president of China Association of Italian Teaching and dean of the Department of Italian (Teaching and Research Section) in the BFLS attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The participants were Jiao Yanting and Wang Kai, vice president of the CFL and young teachers and foreign teachers from the department of Italian. Yan Guodong, president of the CFL, hosted the opening ceremony.
On behalf of the school and the participants, Zhu Guanglei expressed his warm welcome to them and gave a brief introduction to the 100 years of history and development of the NKU. He stated that the Nankai University deriving from the May Fourth Movement was about to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the founding. On Jan. 17th, President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of Central Military Commission paid a visit to the NKU, which is inspiring to the students. On the starting point of the centenary path, the school is about to thrive in all aspects. It was known that as the comprehensive university for researches that focused on the major Italian, the NKU had a long history in the international communication and exchanges on Italian. A new mode of “universal and Non-universal” experimental classes was crested to build a pool of the talents. In recent year, a strong momentum was maintained in the relationship between the two countries. Italy has become among the first G7 countries that initiates the “One Belt and One Road” initiative. Next year will witness the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic ties. He hoped that the participants work together to cultivate the Italian professionals by means of pushing forward bilateral ties.
In the speech, Meng Feixuan stated that China had recently strengthened cooperation with Italy across the board. In March of this year, in the President Xi’s visit to the Italy, he delivered the Joint Communique on Strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the PRC and Republic of Italy. The Communique showed that the two sides will make efforts to strengthen the cooperation on education and meanwhile 2020 would witness the Year of Culture and Tourism at the wake of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, which was a good chance for China to publicize the Italian language and culture. Up to now, there were 22 high institutions on both of the straits where Italian was taught. This conference would serve as a bridge for the cooperation and development of Italian teaching in Chinese education system.
Wen Zhang expressed that the 15th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties happened respectively in this year and next year when it was time to publicize Italy language and culture as well as when Italy initiated “One Belt and One Road” Initiative lately. He hoped that the two countries work together to promote the education of Italian and bilateral ties.
In the following symposiums, Meng Feixuan, Wen Zheng, directors of the Department of Italian in the CFL and Yang Lin, a member of Steering Committee of Foreign Languages and Literature Education in high institutions under the Ministry of Education and Wang Leilei, director of the Cultural Affairs Office in the Italian Embassy respectively delivered speeches “The Prospect of Italian Teaching in the Education System of China”, “The Situation and Future of Italian Teaching in High Institutions of China”, “The Non-Universal Languages and Italian Teaching in High Institutions of China” and “A Introduction to the Italian Teaching at abroad Sponsored by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affaires and International Cooperation”.
National Italian Teaching Symposium was hold once every two years. In the one-day symposium, focusing on the construction of Italian discipline of all schools in the new era and the mode of education, curriculum, faculty, textbook writing, educational reform and the internship of students and their employment, they hold a discussion about the improvement of Italian Teaching.
