Through April 26 to April 27, Pro. Wang Chuanying, a member of the National MTI Education Instruction Committee, vice president of the CFL and director of the MTL (the translation and interpretation in Japanese) and Xu Jing, educational administration secretary of the Education Center of MTI payed a visit to the Xi’an International Studies University and attended the Annual Meeting of National MTI Education.
First of all, Pro. Wang Chuanying attended the Annual Meeting 2019 of Education Instruction Committee. He focused on the DTI’s project initiation, the guideline revision of key courses for the MTI and the more close interaction between the MTI’s education and CATTI.
In the meeting, representatives discussed some main topics such as the education of translators in the new era, new approaches on the translation theories and teaching principles, faculty building, the administration of translation training and practice bases, translation technology application in the teaching, and MTI’s education of less-known languages. Afterwards, he was invited to deliver a lecture on MTI Education Network Construction against the Backdrop of Regional Coordinated Development in the session of “MTI Education Construction of Less-Known Languages”. He advocated that every high institution should give full play to their professional knowledge to share their quality programs, thus establishing a regional network of MTI education.
This meeting was sponsored by the National MTI Education Instruction Committee and MTI’s Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Committee and was organized by the Xi’an International Studies University. Themed with “Education of Translators in the New Era: Mission and Innovation”, the meeting stated both the achievements in national MTI education over the past year and the challenges we faced. Huang Youyi, chairman of Education Instruction Committee, delivered the opening address and Zhong Weihe, Xu Jun, Jiang Hongxin and Min Yi made keynote speeches. Organized in an orderly way, the meeting was informative and conductive to the cooperation and communication between schools.
