In the 5th Non-Universal Language of Chinese Foreign Languages Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Evalution Event,Mr Shi Dou from the Italian Department Won First Prize or Her Translation of L'evoluzione della Cultura.

L'evoluzione della Cultura was composed by an Italian man--Luigi Luca Cavali Sforza. He was well-known around the world as geneticist, anthropologist, historian, and Professor Emeritus of Stanford University. In addition, he has been awarded Knight Grand Cross by the Republic of Italy. From the perspective of a geneticist, his book tells the story of human being’s great migration, the secrets of human genes, and the interactions between genes and cultures as well as the influence that those interactions can cause, presenting a splendid historical picture of the evolution of human culture. All of this will help us rethink racial differences, cultural differences, and our human beings. The first edition of this book was published in 2004 in Italy and won Italy’s Third Merck Serono Scientific Literature award a year later. The second edition came out in 2016 with some new chapters added. Introduced to China by China Social Science Press in 2017, the translation version of this book was listed in “Good Books in Humanities Social Sciences in 2018” by the Humanities and Social Sciences Joint Book List in 2018.
