On the 16th of April, Mr. Xiyuansi Yihuang, vice president of the Tokyo Japan-Sino Friendship Association, was invited to the CFL to deliver a lecture on the topic “Premier Zhou Enlai and Me -- the Democratic Relations between China and Japan”in the lecture hall 111. The lecture marked the 100th Anniversary of Zhou Enlai in the NKU and the 60th Anniversary of His Inspection to the NKU.
Wang Kai, vice president of the CFL, hosted the lecture. The participants were Pro. Shi Yunyan, a professor of the Japanese Department; the faculty and students of the Japan Research Institution and alumni of the CFL. Sponsored by the Department of Japanese and NKU Alumni Association of Foreign Languages, the lecture represented as one of the activities that marked the 100th Anniversary of the NKU.
In the beginning of the lecture, Han Lihong, the professor of the Department of Japanese and Zhao Wei, president of the CFL Alumni Association both expressed their sincere welcome to the Mr. Xiyuansi Yihuang and gratitude to him for the contribution to the people-to-people exchanges. Mr. Xiyuansi gifted his book Deng Yingchao in the Eyes of a Japanese to the students on the spot. Han Li hong and Zhao Wei granted the souvenir badge of the 100th Anniversary of the NKU to him.
Xiyuansi recalled his unforgettable memory of his close contact with Premier Zhou Enlai and his association with China. Afterwards, he explained how the two countries established and normalized the Sino-Japanese democratic ties over the past 20 years from the founding of New China to the normalization of the democratic ties between the two countries. Against the complex international context, he confirmed the important role played by Premier Zhou Enlai. Besides, emphasizing the significance of the people-to-people communication, he believed that efforts should be made to promote the cultural exchanges among the people especially teenagers and a better understanding would be a new driver for the improvement of the ties between the two countries. With passion, his speech impressed everyone deeply.
In the part of communication, deeply moved by the lecture given by Mr. Xiyuansi, Pro. Sun Xuemei, the professor of the Department of Japanese, presented her understanding of the Sino-Japanese ties. Liu Yixi, the senior student of the Department of Japanese voiced her ideal and ambition as a Japanese learner.
Now Mr. Xiyuansi Yihuang works as the vice president of the Tokyo Japan-Sino Friendship Association and president of the Confucius Institute in the Japan Kogakuin University. He once spent about 9 years living in Beijing from 1958 to 1967. After the trip to China, he returned to the Asahi Shimbun working for strengthening the friendship of the two countries. When the 100th Anniversary of the NKU was about to come, his visit was an excellent example of the friendly people-to-people exchanges.
