On April 2nd, Yang Chengshu, professor of the Fu Jen Catholic University paid a visit to the CFL and delivered a lecture on “The Development and Trend of the Translation Studies in the Translation Institution of Taiwan”. Wang Kai, vice president of the college, hosted the lecture and students from different grades attended it.
Yang Chengshu started with the stories happening between the NKU and himself and then gave a brief introduction to the development history of the translation institution in Taiwan more attention was paid to the unique model of teaching for being the first class of institutions in Taiwan and the international reputation. What’s more, Yang Chengshu mainly presented the key distributing areas and the field of Taiwan’s translation industry. He added that if a university was to produce more talents that would meet the needs of economic and social development, innovation would be essential to maintain the vigor and vitality of students.
In the section of communication, Sun Xuemei said that we should, like the education in the Fu Jen Catholic University,be consistent in mother-tongue teaching and independent teaching. Xiong Anxain, the professor of the National Chengchi University, shared his expression that the college had a lot of room to improve the courses of translation and interpreting. And Zhang Songzhuo, the professor of the department of Japanese, introduced briefly what the teaching of translation and interpreting is and is likely to be. All i all, students learn a lot from their remarks.
