Yoshikawa Shinji, Professor of Japan Kyoto University, Was Appointed Guest Professor of the CFL

On April 3rd, the inaugural ceremony of appointing Yoshikawa Shinji, the professor of Japan Kyoto University as the guest professor was held in the Lecture Hall of the CFL. The participants were Yan Guodong, president of the college and Han Lihong, dean of the department of Japanese. Wang Kai, vice president of the college, hosted the ceremony.

Pro. Yan Guodong expressed his sincere gratitude to Yoshikawa Shinji who paid another visit to the CFL after the first visit 5years ago. Emphasis was given to the bright future of the cooperation in teaching and researches between the two schools. Besides, Mr. Yoshikawa Shinji also expressed his gratitude to the CFL for being appointed as the guest professor and felt honored to dedicate himself to the cooperation in teaching and researches between the two schools.

Yan Guodong granted the letter of appointment and the school badge to Yoshikawa Shinji.

After the inaugural ceremony, Yoshikawa Shinji delivered a speech named “ Succession to the Throne in Ancient Japan”. At the time when the new king were to ascend to the throne, teachers and students were all interested in the topic. Pro. Yoshikawa Shinji  was greeted with warm applauds from students and teachers because of the vivid pictures, inspiring stories and world-wide vision. The lecture was rewarding to broad the academic horizon and enlarge the knowledge fro students and teachers.

Yoshikawa Shinji  received the three degrees (Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s degree and Doctoral Degree) in Kyoto University. Since 1996 when he got his Doctoral Degree, he had been teaching in schools. Until 2008, he began to teach in the Kyoto University. Reputed as the leader in the study of the history of ancient Japan, he especially obtained remarkable achievements in the political history, social history and the development history of monastery. Though consistent in the tradition of the historical studies in Kyoto, a host of his works such as his masterpiece Study on the Precept Civil Service System, instead promoted the study of the history of ancient Japan and established his academic status in the Japanese circle of history.

In the visit to the NKU, Yoshikawa Shinji  participated in “Celebrity Forum of Chinese and Japanese Culture” and delivered 5 lectures on the varying areas--kinship, historical documents, culture and religion. Students and teachers from different universities all over the world come to attend the lectures and exchanged their academic ideas. The ceremony would enhance the academic reputation of the EACSC of the CFL in Nankai University in the world and make contribution to the study of ancient Japanese history in China.
