Recently, the first class from the Dean for 2018 new postgraduates of the College of Foreign Languages was held in Room 209. Associate Dean Ma Hongqi gave a lecture on academic norms and ethics, and shard with students how to become a qualified postgraduate.

Ma Hongqi believes that qualified postgraduates should be high-level specialized talents who not only have solid knowledge of basic theories and systematic professional knowledge of the discipline, but also are innovative and can be engaged in scientific research, teaching and management or have the ability of undertaking professional technical work independently. A qualified postgraduate should have extensive professional knowledge. He must read more books and possess certain reading skills. In addition to reading professional books in depth, he should also extensively explore other disciplines. It is necessary to cultivate a solid theoretical foundation and establish a broad theoretical vision. A postgraduate should form a systematic and complete theoretical system on the basis of a large amount of reading, and pay attention to the cross-application of theory in scientific research, but he should avoid the abuse and misuse of theoretical knowledge.

He emphasized that postgraduates should cultivate a keen academic vision and strict academic norms. They should be good at discovering problems and strictly abide by academic norms. At the same time, they should strive to be a credible graduate student by attaching importance to the construction of academic style, and keeping discipline and morality in mind. What's more, they should possess a strong body and can pursue their dreams despite the loneliness.

At the end of the lecture, Mr. Ma proposed that as a postgraduate, it is necessary to actively establish and maintain communication with the tutor, and to develop the habit of active learning and independent learning. He encouraged 2018 freshmen to enrich themselves in the future study life and live a meaning life.

It is known that the College of Foreign Languages has organized a series of education activities for postgraduate, aiming to help freshmen to define their future development direction, lay a good foundation for future study and life and help them to invest in new learning life with a good spirit.
