Students of the Russian Major received good results in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Russian Competition

Sponsored by Hebei Normal University and Hebei Senton International Trade Co., Ltd., the 2018 “Senten Cup” Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Collegiate Russian Competition was held from April 20th to April 22nd. Liu Xueqing and Pu Yuqi from the 2016 Russian undergraduates of the Colllege of Foreign Languages,  Yang Jun from the 2015 undergraduates and Wang Botao from the 2014 undergraduates participated in the competition. Among them, Wang Botao won the second prize of the senior group, Yang Jao won the third prize of the senior group and Liu Xueqing and Pu Yuqi won the third prize of the junior group.

Students from the Russian major of eighteen universities and colleges in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei provinces gathered at Hebei Normal University to participate in this competition. The jury was composed of well-known experts and scholars from several universities and colleges such as Peking University. The competition is divided into two parts- the preliminary and final competitions. The preliminary competition is in the form of a written examination. The finals are divided into three parts: speeches, oral expressions, and translations between Russian and Chinese.

Contestants from these colleges and universities have remainded calm during their performances, or convinced the audience with moving or convincing speeches. The students from the Russian major of Nankai University also showed their graceful attitude  in a confident and calm way. In the oral expressions and Russian-Chinese translation, the competition has adopted a new form of proposition and added more information about Russia’s national conditions and Sino-Russian political relations, whose purpose is to use this contest to encourage Russian learners to expand their knowledge and better serve as a bridge for Sino-Russian cultural exchanges and Sino-Russian relations in the future.

Zhao Chunmei, the leading teacher and a contest judge from Nankai University, said that the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Russian Competition has promoted the exchanges of teaching and scientific research in the Russian major among universities and colleges from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, which is very beneficial to the Russian teaching the integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei in the new era. The students of the Russian major have fully demonstrated the charm of the Nankai in this contest, which is closely related to the teaching experience and talent cultivation methods of the Russian major.

Wang Botao, who won the second prize of the senior sroup, said, “Participating in this contest has opened my horizons through exchanges with excellent students from different schools  and I have found my strengths and weaknesses, so I have more clearly defined my direction and adjusted study plan, working towards higher goals.

The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Russian Competition was successfully concluded at the award ceremony and the closing ceremony on April 21st. The competition has had a profound impact on the exchange of Russian-teaching areas, the reform of methods and talents cultivation.
