As a compulsory holiday homework, students in College of Foreign Languages are required to carry out a social practice according to own hometown’s condition. Doing special survey on a problem, voluntarily teaching left-out children, making contribution to a city as volunteer, all are choices for students. At the same time, students voluntarily went to their alma mater to preach Nankai Spirit, Zhou Enlai Spirit and the 19th CPC National Congress Spirit to provide more reference for pre-graduated students who are facing pursuing a higher education or finding jobs and make them have a deeper knowledge of those spirits. Through hardship in half a month, she shared that this is the first time thar I go into society. I thought we only need to study hard in school before, but after being a TA, I found that work takes more efforts because you need to be cautious about your words and behavior. Besides, working overtime is more painful than staying up to study. But I found myself really into education. Beside the internship in China, some students also visited other countries to study and experience culture through College and University’s platform, and their cross-culture communicative ability are largely improved. Italian major student in 2017Grade Huo Siyuan participated the international volunteers internship program Sunnyvale Community Services for two weeks. In two weeks, she experienced being an international volunteer and helped other social workers do questionnaires and translate to them. She indicated that besides study in class, going to foreign environment to experience and communicate with others helped oneself to better know other countries’ social customs, and contributed a lot in studying a foreign language and broaden one’s horizon.
