On November 18, the 2017 Nankai Translation Phd Forum & Nankai University Translation Direction Phd Admission 20th Anniversary were held in Room 111, College of Foreign Languages. Translation scholars from different places gathered here and shared their nostalgia towards Nankai and inherited the good translation tradition. Professor Yan Guodong, Dean of College of Foreign Languages, Du Weihua, Vice President, Jiao Yanting, Vice President, and Professor Ma Hongqi, Dean Assistant attended. Professor and PhD supervisor in the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University Liu Shicong, Cui Yonglu, Wang Hongyin, Professor and PhD supervisor Zhang Keding in the College of Foreign Languages of Henan University, Professor and PhD supervisor Wen Jun in the College of Foreign Languages of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronaut Professor, Professor and PhD supervisor Chen Hongwei in the College of Foreign Languages of Central China Normal University, Professor and PhD supervisor Lin Ke-nan in the College of Foreign Languages of Tianjin Foreign Studies University, a doctoral tutor at and Professor and PhD supervisor Li Yun-xing in the College of Foreign Languages of Tianjin Normal University were also invited to attend the commemorative activities. The meeting was chaired by Professor Miao Ju, director of the Institute of Translation Studies at the College of Foreign Languages.
Dean Yan Guodong delivered a sincere and warm welcome speech, pointing out that the impact and achievements of Nankai's translation studies are inseparable from the long-term support and contribution of many scholars and highly appraised the development of Nankai's translation studies. That is to say, theoretical research is at the forefront, academic achievements are of fruitful results, the famous scholar in translation field are countless, all kinds of projects never cease, cultivated students are spreading in the world, form a system with distinctive feature. Specially Invited guests Prof. Zhang Keding, Prof. Chen Hongwei, Prof. Wen Wen, Prof. Lin Ke-yan and Prof. Li Yun-xing made speeches successively. The atories of Nankai can be told but the shared feeling of Nankai can’t be fully expressed. In addition, Professor Luo Xuanmin, president of China English-Chinese Comparative Studies Association, leading scholar of Yunshan of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Vice Secretary General of China Translation Association, and Ms. Yang Ping, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Translation Magazine also delivered a message of congratulation on the Translation Direction PhD Admission 20th Anniversary. Subsequently, Professor and senior PhD supervisor Liu Shicong, Cui Yonglu and Wang Hongyin, addressed speeches respectively. Prof. Liu recalled the hardships of founding. Prof. Cui shared feeling in a humorous way and Professor Wang improvised poetry to share with friends.
In the afternoon, Professor Sun Jiancheng, Dean of the Humanities School of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, vice chairman of Tianjin Sub-committee of China Translation Association, Professor Ren Dongsheng, of School of Foreign Languages in Ocean University of China, organized the speeches of Ph.D. graduates. Professor Ma Kuaijuan of Beijing Foreign Studies University, the receiver of 2016 Changjiang Scholar, the editor of Translation Field, Professor Ren Dongsheng, Professor Li Jing, vice president of SITS in Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Bianjian Hua, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages in Qingdao University, Professor Wang Hongtao, Dean of School of Foreign Languages Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Professor Zhang Jinghua of Science and Technology of Hunan University ,Dr. Feng Quangong from School of Foreign Languages of Zhejiang University and Dr. Rong Liyu from Tianjin Normal University made speeches respectively. They recalled their time of studying in Nankai University and shared feelings of teacher-friend friendship, and shared their current work condition with the experts, mentors and students present here. The subsequent graduation doctor improvised speech session is unprecedented active, PhD students Zhangzhi Zhong, Zhang Hui Hui, Chen Dali and postdoctoral Peng Lianyuan have come to the stage one after another to narrative feelings towards Nankai, with endless laughter, in the moment of deep revealed, tears got down. They made poetry about the unforgettable teacher, and university that will be remembered forever. Finally, Prof. Wang Hongyin made a brilliant summary of the event with Song of Translation in Nankai.
