June 3 witnessed the first academic activity of the Research Center of East Asian Cultures. A lecture was delivered by Professor Ma Jun, who is dedicated to the comparative study of Japanese and East Asian literature. The lecture was hosted by Associate Professor Wang Kai, director of the research center.
Prof Ma introduced his methodology for the study of ancient literature and issues related to Buddhist sutras. From the perspective of the Chinese Character Zone in East Asia, Ma emphasized the importance of the study of ancient literature in East Asia.
