On the afternoon of April 29, in order to implement the cooperation on the historical research between Nankai University and French Government Archives, the CFL held a special meeting to establish translation principles on the historical materials of French Government Archives.
The attendees included Professor Yan Guodong, Dean of the CFL, and Associate Professor Du Weihua, the assistant Dean, some French teachers, experts from France, and other invited teachers from other universities.
Mr. Yang Yuping, the project leader and also teacher from Department of French, explained the translation principles and other related issues.
The translation project of historical materials of French Government Archives undertaken by the CFL is one of the most important events in the foreign cooperation and exchange of Nankai University. It has been assigned high priority by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Ministry of Education, and the leaders of Nankai University.
The archives of this project are very precious first-hand data, which will develop and consolidate the friendly relations between China and France, particularly in the cultural exchange. It can also enhance the researching ability of China-France history with important political and academic meanings.
The CFL takes this project as an opportunity, starting from a long-term goal, to cultivate high research teams by the combination of translation and research. This project will further the development of the teaching and research of French major for the purpose of making the translation of archives as one academic research brand.
It is said that the first-phase translation achievement will be published by the Nankai University Press. A new book recommendation and an international academy conference will be held after its release.
