On April 8, the ninth linguistics salon was held by the Linguistics Research Center of the College of Foreign Languages. Teachers and graduate students of linguistics attended the meeting. Pan Jianrong, doctoral supervisor from the College of Literature, gave a lecture entitled “Evidentiality of Formosan”, with materials on Saaroa and Tsou obtained from his field investigations. After his report, the scholars and graduates had an in-depth discussion with the lecturer on the theories and methodologies of linguistics, such as endangered language survey, characteristics of Austronesian languages, and evidentiality research.
