Supported by Chinese and British governments,Nankai University- University of Glasgow Joint Graduate School was inaugurated with the approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education at Chern Institute of Mathematics of Nankai University. It is the first British international graduate institution named “Joint-Graduate-School” in China.
NKU President Gong Ke and Professor Anne Anderson, vice president of University of Glasgow, jointly unveiled the nameplate. Professor Yan Guodong, the president of CFL , Professor Hu Cui’e, the director of translation department, and other experts from the two universities also took part in the inauguration.
Before the inaugural ceremony, two universities signed the cooperative agreement on translation department of CFL in its second phase.
Nankai University-University of Glasgow Joint Graduate School is a very good attempt to foster high-level talents in terms of international cooperation. Its set-up will help reform and develop the internalization of graduate education of Nankai University, and even promote the reform and development of China graduate education internalization, and help reserve international talents at the same time.
Students of Joint-Graduate-School will enroll separately at Nankai University and University of Glasgow. Nankai University will be in charge of daily management of students’ affairs, while the teaching managements are responsible by both sides, each offering 50% teaching courses. Students’ score will be decided by the teachers from the two universities, while their thesis supervision, evaluation and defense will be guided by both sides. The qualified students will be issued graduate certificate and master degree from Nankai University, and Master of Science (MSc) from University of Glasgow.
